• Todd Richards is trying to get his players to buy into his system with the Minnesota Wild: "I think we have a great leader in Mikko Koivu(notes). He's a good captain now and he's going to be a great captain in the future. I think he's got a great support staff of Brunette, Schultz, Zanon, and you bring in Madden and Cullen now, and I think that's huge. That's why I say that. • Kirk Maltby and Derek Meech had been waived by the Detroit Red Wings. To quote the great Roger Ebert: "Now that I've inspired a character in a Godzilla movie, all I really still desire is for several Ingmar Bergman characters to sit in a circle and read my reviews to one another in hushed tones."
